For my final, I wanted to capture the overall essence of what my blog is really about. I created a travel blog at the beginning of this semester to inspire, reflect, and inform others about what my semester abroad was like. After thinking about what I wanted others to takeaway from my semester blogging, it is to branch out of your surroundings and explore a place you’ve never seen before. For my final, I created another travel video using Adobe Premiere. After learning how to use this platform better and sync up video and sound, I’m extremely happy with how this video came out. This video took me a while to edit, opposed to my first video. I really wanted the song and clips to match up well, in order to capture that glimpse of inspiration for my viewers. I chose my top clips and favorite memories from my experience, and combined them into a minute long video. I wanted this video to be short and sweet, as I narrowed down the most inspirational clips of my travels abroad. Along with the video, I decided to create an advertisement. I had in mind to play this video and show the advertisement that I created for a future abroad fair at Marist. I think students learn best and trust other students most from their past experiences, so I thought these would go perfect with each other. I created this advertisement through Adobe Photoshop, and I had a lot of fun determining how I wanted it to look. I wanted this poster to have a “collage” effect, which is why I added the background of the sky to my advertisement. I wanted the advertisement to have that “copy and paste” affect to it. I wanted to include what I thought was most symbolic of my time abroad, which included the Duomo, pizza, wine, the David, and a cappuccino. All of these photos bring back memories for me and embody what my semester was about. My production plan and reason in creating this was to have it set up at the Florence, Italy abroad fair booth. The video took me the longest to edit and to solidify which clips I wanted to insert. Each day, I set aside time to edit it, with inserting and reinserting clips until I was happy with the outcome.I also wanted this advertisement to match up with the first video I made in class of my abroad experience, only shorter and more to the point. As my third skill for the class, I posted my video on the “Video” page of my blog. I wanted my viewers to be able to compare and contrast the two videos I made, and see my inspiration behind cresting them. Throughout these past few weeks in creating this final, I wanted to hone in on my skills I’ve learned throughout the semester. My overall goal was for this final was to create a final product that could actually be used on Marist campus and shown to other students. I’d definitely say I’ve learned a tremendous amount through this course on how to use these platforms, given I had no idea how to prior to this course. I’ve learned to really love Adobe Photoshop the most, as I found I could get as creative as I want with this software. I will definitely continue to use it in my future endeavorers and hopefully apply my new skills to a future job! Attached is my Youtube video and my advertisement.
